Romania decided to provide non-reimbursable financial support of 100 million euros to Republic of Moldova, Traian Basescu, Romanian president, stated, cited by DECA-press Agency. According to the head of the Romanian state, these funds will be provided in annual installments per 25 million euros, in the following four years. These funds will be used in projects of infrastructure revitalization. „The funding will be based on agreement concluded in the following days”, Basescu specified.
Speaking about the border Treaty which many political forces of Moldova want to conclude, Basescu stated Bucharest would never sign a document to redefine the Moldo-Romanian borders. “Romania recognized the borders after the USSR abolition. It agreed to conclude a treaty to redefine the border system as it was after the Soviet Union abolition”.
Traian Basescu also said that Bucharest was ready to open the third consulate in Moldova, except the ones from Cahul and Balti.
The Romanian President said that, at the end of this week, the Bucharest Government would adopt a regulatory act meant to hurry the process of providing Romanian citizenship. “Till 2008, about 2400 Moldovan citizens have got Romanian citizenship. After the new provisions were adopted last year, 20 thousand applications demands were processed.14 thousand people have already got the Romanian citizenship”, Basescu said. The Romanian President also said the Agency for regaining Romanian citizenship will have about five branches in Romanian districts along the Moldovan-Romanian borders, in order for Basarabian citizens to have the possibility to file their application demands for citizenship.
Traian Basescu announced the Agreement on small cross border would be applied beginning with 31 March. Till then, all technical details will be fixed, including the opening of consulates in Balti and Cahul.
As for the economic standpoint, Basescu stated it is extremely important for Republic of Moldova to adjust its energetic systems and infrastructure to the ones of Romania and European Union. The main projects stated by Basescu deal with the conclusion of construction of an electric line to the South and North of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the ones of gas transportation (gas pipe Drochia-Ungheni-Iasi). „Romania pledges to allocate 30 million euros to finish the construction of Suceava-Balti electric line”, Traian Basescu stated.
The Romanian President reminded that Romania had provided 150 thousand vaccines against pandemic flu to Moldova. 350 thousand dozes more will arrive soon to Moldova. Basescu also stated that there are about 3400 Moldovan young people studying in Romania and this number may grow. We want the diplomas of Romanian institutions graduates to be recognized in the Republic of Moldova”, Traian Basescu said.
