The well-known businessman from Balti, Nicolae Chirilciuk, was assigned Minister of Industrial Policies in Crimea, DECA-press informs.
This decision was taken by the Legislative Body (Supreme Rada of the republic) on March 19. Chirilciuk’s candidature was issued by the Prime Minister of Crimea, the media of the Crimean Republic informs.
Nicolae Chirilciuk is director of „SVOK” Ltd in Simferopol, founded in 2007.
The businessman Nicolae Kirilciuk (51 years old) was born and worked so far in Balti. He obtained Ukrainian citizenship in 2007. Soon, he moved to Ukraine. Chirilciuk sold his house from Balti to the Romanian state, according to some source. The building had to host the Romanian consulate.
Nicolae Chirilciuk founded in 1993 the first regional commercial bank of Moldova – „Moldova Nord Banca”, that worked until 1997.
In 1995, Nicolae Chirilciuk renovated the Saint Nicolae Cathedral’s Bell Tower of Balti using his own financial resources. After renovation, Chirilciuc became very popular in the city, being elected councilor. He gathered a number of votes that would have permitted the election of four independent councilors. During 1995-2000, he was president of the Progressive Forces Party, a political faction created in Balti.
He was a donor to a number of Eminescu medals. Due to that, the Romanian ex-president Emil Constantinescu awarded him the Commemorative Medal “150 years since Mihai Eminescu’s birth” in August 2000. During March 2000 – November 2001, Chirilciuk was president of Balti District Council (BDC). On the eve of 2001 parliamentary elections, Nicolae Chirilciuc was arrested by ISS and kept under arrest for nearly one month. He was accused of contraband with petroleum products. Chirilciuc considered this incident as “political revenge”. Soon, he withdrew from the political life of Moldova.
