The officials discussed the Moldovan-emirate partnership and the prospects for intensifying cooperation, concluding that there are currently all the necessary premises for this purpose. In this context, several recent work visits have been noted, as well as the intensification of cooperation by signing new bilateral agreements.

Among the disscussed topics, the Prime Minister talked about Moldova’s interest in boosting the relations between the two countries’ entrepreneurs, including through the opening of mixed capital companies, as well as the free circulation of both countries’ citizens, as Moldova has already abolished the visas for the emirate citizens and is will do the same for UAE residents.

Officials have confirmed their willingness to further develop bilateral relations, making full use of existing potential and, at the end of the meeting, Filip invited the Prince of Abu Dhabi to visit the Republic of Moldova.

PM Pavel Filip: I don’t think that Moldova is a captured state because I can’t see it

Prime Minister Pavel Filip does not consider that the Republic of Moldova is a captured state, as mentioned in the most recent European Parliament resolution voted this week. The prime minister declared that he “does not see state institutions being captured”.

The statements were made in the “InPROfunzime” program at the ProTV Chişinău television station, IPN reports.

“I talk to people and I don’t feel that they’re captured, nor are the state institutions. In fact, what do captured institutions mean?”

The official admits that there is a concentration of power in the Republic of Moldova “because in 2016 PDM were the ones who, together with PL, assumed the responsibility to govern.”

Filip recognizes that there are “quite big” issues in the justice area.

According to him, reforms in the justice system are very heavy, and the situation in law is now better than a few years ago. “It’s just not what we all want. The small reform of justice must be completed, after which another analysis needs to be carried out and we see what needs to be changed,” says the head of the executive.

Analysts about the vote in the European Parliament: “The document is extremely critical and attests to serious conflicts”

The resolution adopted on Moldova in the European Parliament yesterday definitively closed the page on what was called the “honeymoon” of the Republic of Moldova’s relationship with the European Union.

This is the opinion analyst Anatol Ţăranu, who declared that this position has put a definitive end on what is called “The Republic of Moldova – a success story” in relation to the EU. The public debates were organized by the IPN agency, ZiarulNational writes.

According to Ţăranu, the document adopted by the MEPs is extremely critical and attests to the serious skirmishes that have occurred based on the functioning of the democratic institutions.

The analyst says that the resolution was received, naturally, with satisfaction by the Moldovan society as well as by the opposition political forces. And vice versa, for the time being, the government does not have very prompt reactions.

“The European Union is the main development partner for the Republic of Moldova and the worsening of relations with the EU would mean nothing but the diminishing of the economic, political and other relations. And this can not be manifested, including at the level of life, to the quality of life of citizens of the Republic of Moldova. ” concluded Anatol Ţăranu, quoted by IPN.

The Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) dictated the final verdict in the case of Veaceslav Platon – one of the ±1 billion lei from a Moldovan bank (Banca de Economii), as a result of loans granted to companies led by people intercepted in November 2014.

Magistrates of SCJ have declared the appeal of his lawyers unjustified against the decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, in which Platon was sentenced to 18 years in prison, ZdG writes.

Veaceslav Platon was detained in Kiev on July 25, 2016, on the same day that the Chisinau authorities announced him in international search, being blamed in the file on defrauding “Banca de Economii” Moldovan bank, where he would have received bad loans in the amount of about 800 million lei.

On August 29, 2016, Platon was extradited to Moldova. The prosecutor demanded a cumulative 23-year prison sentence.
