Igor Dodon had a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Here is what they talked about

President Igor Dodon had yet another meeting with the Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin this year, at the informal summit of the CIS that took place in Moscow on December 27. According to the head of state, all aspects of bilateral relations were addressed at the meeting.

Thus, Igor Dodon reported on his Facebook page that during the meeting he noted that, “despite the anti-Russian rhetoric and the actions of the Moldovan Government and the parliamentary majority,” the bilateral relations show a positive evolution.

The president also wished Vladimir Putin to the presidential elections in March 2018, calling him “a remarkable leader in the history of the Russian Federation that turned his country into a world-wide power.”

“The year 2018 is of crucial importance to our countries. In the Russian Federation, elections will be held for the position of president of the country. I wished great luck to Mr. Putin in this coming election. I consider him a remarkable leader in the history of the Russian Federation that has turned his country into a state of great world power,” declared Dodon.

The so-called head of state also said that Moldova also follows a very important event – parliamentary elections, on which depends the way the country will develop.

President Dodon left to Moscow. These are his planned meetings

Today, president Igor Dodon announced that he is taking a two-day “working” visit to Moscow, where he would attend the informal meeting of CIS leaders. The head of state attends this event at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to him, several working meetings are planned in the Russian capital, including Moscow and Russia’s Patriarch of Moscow, Chiril, with Russia’s former economic development minister, Gherman Gref, and with the chairman of the management board of Gazprom, Aleksei Miller.

“Russia has been and remains our main strategic partner,” Igor Dodon told his Facebook page.

Andrian Candu: Pavel Filip to repeatedly propose the new Government candidatures to President Dodon

“Pavel Filip will repeatedly propose the candidatures without any change and President Dodon will, according to the Constitution, approve them. If he violates the Constitution, there is the Constitutional Court. We will address the Constitutional Court to come up with a solution to unlock this situation,” said Candu.

Yesterday, President Igor Dodon announced that he had rejected the candidatures of the ministers announced by the leader of the Democratic Party, Vladimir Plahotniuc. According to the head of state, most of the proposed candidates have demonstrated “inconsistency, lack of professionalism and regrettable opportunism in previous functions and activities.”

Reminder: On December 19, the leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc, announced that 7 members of the Government will be replaced in office. Thus, two new prime ministers and a former president of the Constitutional Court will be part of the new governmental gasket.

The European Commission notes Moldova’s fulfillment of criteria for the visa-free regime with the EU

Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration announced that the European Commission’s first Annual Report on the Visa Suspension Mechanism.

The report notes that the Republic of Moldova continues to meet the criteria underlying the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU and includes a set of recommendations for strengthening our country’s policies, especially in the area of preventing and combating corruption and money laundering.

Visa-free travel has significantly facilitated people-to-people contacts and contributed to the further strengthening of business, social and cultural links between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union.

Visa-free travel is open to all 2,059,358 biometric passport holders, including those in the Transnistrian region (144,128).
