The Liberal Party filed the registration papers for the anti-Chirtoaca referendum

The Liberal Party has filed the party’s registration papers as a participant in the anti-Chirtoaca referendum to be held on November 19th. The Liberals said that during the electoral campaign they will urge the voters in Chisinau not to vote and not to legitimize this plebiscite.

The decision came after the Electoral CouncilDistrict of Chisinau refused to register Dorin Chirtoaca as a participant in the local referendum. Note that today is the last day when parties can register to participate in the general mayor’s dismissal plebiscite.

Reminder: The mayor of the Moldovan capital, Dorin Chirtoaca has been in house arrest since May 2017, being investigated for traffic influcence over the parking lot payroll. BREAKING: CCM has TEMPORARILY suspended Dodon’s presidency. Candu and Filip will either appoint or take over the interim

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova decided to temporarily suspend Igor Dodon’s presidency.

The Constitutional Court ruled that the President’s refusal constituted the temporary impossibility of exercising the office by establishing the interim. Thus, the High Court declared that the second refusal of President Dodon to appoint Eugen Sturza to the office of minister will lead to the impossibility of him exercising the presidential functions. The interim will thus be provided either by the President of the Parliament, or the Prime Minister.

Reminder: CCM has temporarily suspended Igor Dodon’s presidency after he has repeatedly refused to appoint the candidate, Eugen Sturza, for the ruling coalition, as Defense Minister.

Filip on the Eastern Partnership Summit in November: It will be a crucial one

The Eastern Partnership Summit, scheduled for November in Brussels, will be a crucial moment not only for the future of Eastern European countries but also for the future of the whole of Europe. Moreover, the place of the Republic of Moldova is in the European family, our aspirations must be therefore encouraged and welcomed in the official statements. This is the opinion of the Prime Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, which is found in an editorial for Euronews.

The prime minister believes that if pro-Russian socialists came to power, they would abandon their intention of European integration and so a positive signal from Europe to Moldova would be very much appreciated.

“The sanctioning of our constitution’s external strategic vector is, we believe, an adequate response to those who question our intentions, and the Eastern Partnership Summit would strengthen this option. The EU is a symbiosis of democracy, the rule of law, prosperity and development, and our major task is to prove to Moldovan citizens that it can not be achieved without one another. Decisions are important not only for the eastern countries but also for the future of the EU,” says Pavel Filip.

“At the same time, amid reconfigurations, progress and national sensitivities, we argue that the European integration door should be kept open for those who meet the standards. Such an approach would serve both the EU’s goals and ours. We believe in the power of the Eastern Partnership Summit to bring together clear strategic directions and pragmatic ideas, to enhance cooperation and to make it more effective. The principles behind the creation of the EaP should only be reinforced.” declared Filip at the speech’s end.
