This year’s Bazaar will be held on Saturday, December 3, from 10.00 until 16.00 at MoldExpo. Entry fee is 2 lei. Over 17 countries and international organizations will offer foods from their regions, gift items specific to their countries, and other items of interest for sale. Participants include: Africa, Belarus, China, Czech Republic, Israel, Latvia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States of America, Peace Corps, International Organization for Migration (IOM), United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR), European Union (EU), Council of Europe, and Quality Schools International. Several countries will offer cultural programs during the Bazaar.
One of the highlights of the annual Bazaar is the lottery. Some of this year’s lottery prizes include: roundtrip airfare to Moscow; aerial tour of Chisinau; one-night stay plus breakfast for two at the Dedeman Hotel; dinner for two at New York Restaurant; one-month membership at EcoSport Gym; and many more. Lottery tickets can be purchased for 10 lei at the Bazaar.
Over the past eight years, more than $65,000 has been generated by this event to benefit women’s and children’s projects in Moldova. Last year, proceeds from the Bazaar benefited: kindergartens in Ialoveni and Briceni and a children’s cultural center in Chisinau; women’s centers in Balti and Chisinau; a playground in Paicu; a school cafeteria in Cahul; and projects helping vulnerable girls (Chisinau) and youth (Floresti). Grant proposal forms for 2006 will be available to organizations and public institutions at the International Women’s Club table at the Bazaar.
Major sponsors for this year’s Bazaar are: Xerox Corporation and SRL Cristas-M. Other sponsors include: Aerotour Moldova, Dedeman Grand Hotel, New York Restaurant and Bowling, EcoSport Gym, Neotel, and Creacrix Salon.
The International Women’s Club of Moldova is a membership organization of both international women and Moldovan women who have an interest in philanthropy and friendship.
