Moldova signed with Romania a protocol of cooperation in the field of lab diagnosis of bird flu on Thursday. The document was signed in Piatra Neamt by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova, Anatolie Spivacenco, and chairman of Romania’s National Sanitary Veterinary Authority, state secretary Ion Agafitei. <\/p>\n

According to Rompres, the document envisages the training of the personnel of the respective laboratories and their equipment with a view to implementing in the lab methods for diagnosing avian influenza used in the EU. Under the protocol, the specialized bodies of the two countries will take samples, especially in the border zone, for rapid detection of the virus in the Romanian mobile labs. Moldova’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will pay for the services provided by Romania’s national laboratory for bird flu diagnosis located in Bucharest in accordance with the tariffs stipulated in the Romanian legislation. <\/p>\n

“We are grateful that Romania helps Moldova in discovering the bird flu, a serious illness that becomes dangerous for our common zone of existence inclusively," Anatolie Spivacenco told Rompres. He said the signature of the protocol constitutes the beginning of a tight cooperation between the sanitary-veterinary authorities of the two countries. <\/p>\n
