Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin’s popularity rating is down by 14 percent, the lowest figure since November 2001, the Public Opinion Barometer poll shows. <\/p>\n

Although Mr Voronin’s rating fell he still ranks the first with 47.1 percent among the trusted political personalities, followed by Premier Vasile Tarlev with 37 percent (down 10 percent) and Speaker Marian Lupu with 33 percent. Dorin Chirtoaca entered the list of trusted personalities with 2.6 percent. <\/p>\n

The question “how do you appreciate the 4 April 2005 vote” received 40.6 percent of “positive” answers and 30 percent of “negative” answers. <\/p>\n

Population’s interest in the electoral process is on the decrease, the survey shows. Thus, if elections in the Parliament were organized this Sunday, 51.6 percent of the interviewed would go to the polls (in comparison with 63 percent in February), about 17 percent would not go, while 5.5 percent of participants in the survey are indifferent. <\/p>\n

The Communist Party would get 31 percent of the vote, the Christian-Democratic Peoples Party would poll 6.6 percent, “Our Moldova” Alliance – 5.9 percent and the Democratic Party – 5.6 percent. <\/p>\n

According to the survey, the interest in politics remained at the same low level.
