The British EU Presidency announced that after a reevaluation of the situation in November 2005 the External Relations Council has approved the decision to reduce the number of Tiraspol administration representatives not wanted in the territory of EU member states. <\/p>\n

Thus only two Rabnita officials and 17 Transdniestrian officials remain in the EU list of non-grata persons. They include the Transdniestrian leader Igor Smirnov and his sons. The Romanian language school in Rabnita still runs the risk of being closed at any moment. <\/p>\n

Under these circumstances, the British EU Presidency seeks from the Transdniestrian administration to reestablish the status of the Rabnita school and to create all the conditions for it to function. The declaration also reads that the EU Presidency will continue observing closely the schools’ situation in particularly and the situation in the region in general and will revise the restrictive measures imposed on Transdniestrian officials depending on their will to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict. <\/p>\n

The US lifted none of the visa restrictions imposed on the 27 Tiraspol officials declared not wanted in the US. <\/p>\n

In February 2004 the EU and US placed travel restrictions on 17 Tiraspol officials for postponing the peaceful settlement of the Transdniestrian issue.
