Moldova regrets the failure to adopt a final political declaration of the OSCE Ministerial Council for the third year in a row, as well as of a statement on Moldova because of a country, Deputy Premier Andrei S tratan, foreign and European integration minister, said in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

Stratan fell short of revealing the country which opposed the adoption of declarations, but noted that the Moldovan delegation worked in a constructive manner in order to reach a consensus on the text of the two documents. <\/p>\n

The minister insisted that the points demanded by Chisinau be of principle. Moldova regrets that Russia failed the commitments assumed at the 1999 Istanbul summit regarding the withdrawal of its troops and ammunition from Moldova and urges Moscow to resp ect its obligations. <\/p>\n

lIn the context, Stratan spoke out about the political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict through democratisation and demilitarisation of the region and awarding of a special status to the secessionist region as part of Moldova. <\/p>\n

Also, Stratan asked the Council of Ministers to take an attitude towards alarming actions of the separatist regime against residents of the eastern districts of Moldova. According to Chisinau, the delayed organisation of an international inspection at Ru ssian ammunition depots in the Transnistrian region, as well as at the military complex in the region uncontrolled by the legal authorities of the country, also raises concern. <\/p>\n
