The Central Election Commission (CEC) has found out that President Vladimir Voronin did not violate the Election Code through statements he delivered at a TV programme, which certain opposition parties describe as meddling in the electoral campaign. However, CEC obliged the TV channel PRO TV Chisinau to offer the right of reply to the candidate of the Alliance Our Moldova (AMN) envisages in the speech of the chief of state. <\/p>\n

The AMN candidate to the Chisinau mayor-general post, Mircea Rusu, will benefit from the right to one reply, which will be rebroadcast under similar conditions that the programme In Profunzime that President Voronin has attended as invitee was broadcast and rebroadcast. <\/p>\n

The chief of state said that a Chisinau-based enterprise went bankrupt when Rusu ran it. AMN describes this statement as a misinformation which harms the image and dignity of its competitor. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the president said that he supports Vasile Ursu, independent candidat to the Chisinau mayor post, for competence. CEC said that this statement fits the legislation and it is not a meddling in the electoral campaign. <\/p>\n

The chairman of the electronic media watchdog CCA, Ion Mihailo, said that President Voronin said his opinion "of citizens." CEC members supported Mihailo. <\/p>\n

The national public television and Euro TV Chisinau were obliged on Thursday to change the hour for broadcasting of electoral debates. They broadcast the debates at 18:00 on Thursday and Friday, the last day of electoral debates, at the request of electo ral competitors, with a pause at 18:40, when electoral advertising will be broadcasted in line with contracts of contestants with these channels. <\/p>\n
