Oleg Serebrian, chairman of the Social Liberal Party (PSL), said on Wednesday, November 23, that he will demand the start of the procedure of impeachment of President Vladimir Voronin for what he stated to PRO TV Chisinau on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

Serebrian noted that he will start negotiations with other parliamentary factions for dismissal of the chief of state, who "lies his own people," though PSL has only three representatives in the parliament. Serebrian criticized the way Voronin treated th e conditions imposed by parliamentary opposition on April 4 that the chief of state has promised to fulfil in front of the parliament and international community. He particularly indicated the refusal of Voronin to step down from the post of chairman of the Party of Moldovan Communists. <\/p>\n

Also, PSL is concerned with "the intolerable and defying manner that the president gets involved in the electoral campaign for the post of Chisinau mayor." According to Serebrian, "the declaration in favour of candidate Vasile Ursu is a grave violation o f legal norms that the president should guarantee." Social Liberals have already requested the Central Electoral Commission and they support the need to withdraw candidate Ursu from the electoral campaign. <\/p>\n

President Voronin told the programme In Profunzime broadcasted by PRO TV Chisinau on Tuesday evening that both the government, and the president support Vasile Ursu to the Chisinau mayor post. Also, Voronin said that he would not give up the post of chai rman of the Party of Moldovan Communists and he does not have such commitments towards other parties in Moldova. <\/p>\n
