\"\"Romania will pass on to Moldova all the documents that are part of the European acquis. According to the Moldovan Prime Minister, the Moldovan institutions need these documents to hasten the process of assimilation of the European norms and standards. This decision was taken during the meeting of the Moldovan and Romanian Premiers Vasile Tarlev and Calin Popescu-Tariceanu in Bucharest. <\/p>\n

Calin Popescu-Tariceanu told a press conference that Romania would offer its support and expertise to Moldova as a future EU member state. A group of Romanian specialists will present the Moldovan experts the most important aspects concerning the European accession. <\/p>\n

Tarlev thanked the Romanian part for the support it is ready to offer to Moldova and admitted that Moldova has to work hard as to the European accession. “We would like to enter the EU together in 2007 but Moldova has to work hard to attain this goal. We appreciate Romania’s desire to give us a hand in the implementation of European standards and I want to thank the Romanian Government and especially the Prime Minister for this,” Tarlev said. <\/p>\n

Tariceanu pledged the Romanian authorities would try to simplify the process of visa issuing for the Moldovan citizens. <\/p>\n

The official added Romania is studying the Transdniestrian issue. “In our opinion, the respect for Moldova’s sovereignty and its territorial integrity musty lay at the basis of conflict settlement. This is our position and it coincides with that of Moldova. I am sure we will reach a positive result in the shortest time if we make concerted efforts,” Calin Popescu-Tariceanu told. <\/p>\n

The two Premiers discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation. Although the bilateral economic cooperation saw a rise in the first nine months of the year, it could be much higher, Tarlev said, adding that the Moldovan Government and the Moldovan business community back the strengthening of bilateral relations. <\/p>\n

The two officials have also conferred on the cooperation in the field of border security, prevention of trafficking in drugs and human beings and of networks of organized crime. <\/p>\n

Romania and Moldova signed a contract on the supply of electric power on Wednesday. “Termoelectrica” will restart Braila thermo-electrical power plant that will supply Moldova with electric power. The Braila plant will function using the natural gas delivered by Moldova. The Moldovan and Romanian sides started negotiations for the recovery of the 30-million dollar debt Moldova owes to Romania for the electric power supply.
