Romanian president Traian Basescu had a meeting with Moldavan PM Vasile Tarlev yesterday. The two officials talked about priorities of the bilateral economic cooperation and focused on energy matters, says Presidential Administration in press release. PM Tarlev expressed Moldavan president Vladimir Voronin’s solicitation that Romanian should help the Moldovan Republic by providing it with electricity. President Basescu promised Romania would give support. The two officials also took up the Transdniester conflict and reiterated the two states’ views on it. President Basescu assured Moldavan officials that Romania would continue to support Moldova. PM Tarlev mentioned at the end that president Voronin was looking forward to his next meeting with the Romanian president and expressed hope it would take place soon.
