President Vladimir Voronin paid Tuesday, November 8, a working visit to the Chisinau City Hall to analyse its activity. The president paid the first visit to the Chisinau City Hall last May. <\/p>\n

The chief of state told journalists: "It was a very constructive sitting, and we analyzed problems solved by city hall. I envisage renovation of model districts, arrangement of the National Opera square, square of the monument of Stefan cel Mare. We took decisions related to the central bus station, cleaning station, reorganisation of city hall, and mobilisation of the Chisinau Municipal Council to solve the most pressing problems with the agreement of mayor." <\/p>\n

"The priority problems remain the same, no matter who becomes mayor-general, and they must be urgently solved in the limit of existing financial possibilities," Voronin underlined. <\/p>\n

The president indicated the need to light up the streets, to ensure access and security of citizens on paths to residential blocks. He underlined the importance to complete a general development plan for Chisinau. <\/p>\n

Deputy Mayor Mihai Furtuna described the visit of Voronin to the Chisinau City Hall as "a working meeting which could lay bases of a normal cooperation with the state administration." He insisted that this visit has no political nature. <\/p>\n

"It was established at the meeting that we have performed a number of works for the community benefit, including for city modernisation. Of course, there are problems that we did not solve because of the lack of finances and we solicited the chief of sta te to get involved for revision of the 2006 state budget in favour of municipal budget," Furtuna added. <\/p>\n

The Chisinau mayor-post became vacant after Serafim Urechean tendered resignation after 11 years of work in this office and choose the mandate of parliamentarian. <\/p>\n

According to analysts, the central authorities were in "war" with Chisinau City Hall before resignation of Urechean from this office. <\/p>\n
