Chisinau Mayor Serafim Urecheanuannounced the press about his withdrawal from premiership race andsaid he had already announced President Lucinschi about hisdecision.<\/p>\n

"I took this decision at the Tuesday meeting of the Alliance ofDemocracy and Reforms, after deputies of the governing coalitionasked me to take over the cabinet ruling but with the oldstructure and scheme", Serafim Urecheanu said. "I could not acceptsuch a condition and therefore I decided to withdraw so as not totension the situation in the parliament".<\/p>\n

Urecheanu was applauded while leaving.<\/p>\n

The Chisinau mayor said that a new appointed premier should acceptADR’s conditions and be supported by the governing coalition.<\/p>\n

Urecheanu said that he plans to run for the office of the Chisinaumayor during the spring local elections. "I count on the support ofADR", Urecheanu emphasized.<\/p>\n
