Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom has received Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupu, who is on an official visit to Budapest, according to the parliamentary press and image service.
\nThe two officials considered the development of bilateral political and economic relations, and hailed their increasing dynamics. <\/p>\n

Eloquent proofs to this are the 2003 Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin’s visit to Budapest, the permanent consultations between the two states’ foreign ministries, exchanges of experts, parliamentary delegations’ visits, etc. <\/p>\n

Lupu said Moldova considers Hungary as a highly important partner in Central Europe, as well as in its capacity of EU member. <\/p>\n

The speaker thanked the Hungarian side for fully supporting Moldova’s European integration aspirations. The Action Plan Moldova-Hungary, which is set to be signed at mid-November, will regulate the assistance Hungary will offer to Moldova to this end. <\/p>\n

The Hungarian head of state said Moldova is Hungary’s one of the most important economic partners from the former Soviet states, and thanked for the organisation of the economic forum, Moldova Presents, in Budapest. Solyom expressed conviction that the forum will help establish direct business relations between the two states. <\/p>\n

Referring to the process of legislation’s adjustment to the European standards, which has been launched by the Moldovan parliament, Solyom said Moldova will be able to avoid the mistakes committed by his country during this process, due to the assistance Hungary will provide Moldova with. <\/p>\n

Lupu thanked Hungary for international support, and called on the Budapest authorities to back the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, by supporting Moldova’s official position within the European Commission, the European Council, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. <\/p>\n

Speaker Marian Lupu reiterated President Voronin’s invitation to Laszlo Solyom to pay an official visit to Moldova. <\/p>\n
