By the end of November, Romania will draw up a draft agreement on the visa regime between Moldova and Romania that will be sent to Chisinau for examination. <\/p>\n

According to a press communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI), this decision was taken during the Moldovan-Romanian consultations on consular and juridical matters that ended on Friday in Chisinau. <\/p>\n

Given Romania’s accession to the EU on January 1, 2007, the sides considered it necessary to examine the methods of liberalizing the future visa regime for the Moldovan citizens traveling to Romania and, respectively, to regulate the visa regime for the Romanian citizens traveling to Moldova. <\/p>\n

With a view to attaining this objective, the experts proposed the simplification of the visa regime taking as model the asymmetric visa regime that exists between Moldova and Poland. <\/p>\n

Thus, it is envisaged that the Moldovan citizens will travel to Romania using visas issued free of charge by the consular and diplomatic missions of Romania. The Romanian side will take the necessary measures to ensure the functioning of the consular division within the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau. <\/p>\n
