\"\"Three MPs of the parliamentary faction of “Our Moldova” Alliance (AMN) – Serafim Urechean, Ion Ciontoloi, and Vasile Colta have lost the parliamentary immunity. Fifty four Communist MPs have voted for lifting the immunity and sending the legal cases opened by the Prosecutor General’s Office to the court. <\/p>\n

The case of the Communist MP Ivan Gutu has not been discussed at the plenary meeting for the reason that he appealed against Prosecutor General’s Office ordinance of opening a legal case. Prosecutor General’s Office has also filed an appeal. The final decision is to be taken yet. <\/p>\n

Only representatives of the majority faction voted in favor of lifting the immunity of the three AMN MPs, while the other factions abstained. <\/p>\n

Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Iurie Rosca argued the refusal of the Christian Democratic MPs to vote by the fact that in order not to doubt the correctness of the court it would have been better to reexamine this issue after the passing of a new Law on Prosecutor General’s Office. <\/p>\n

Dumitru Diacov, leader of the Democratic Party, said in turn that each MP is granted the right to prove his\/her innocence in court. “This case is more special, that is why we abstained. We do not want to be involved in such quarrels,” Diacov said. <\/p>\n

“We abstained from moral reasons. Serafim Urechean was the leader of the Electoral Bloc of which the Social-Liberal Party (PSL) was part,” Oleg Serebrean, PSL leader, pointed out. Another reason is, according to Serebrean, Prosecutor General’s lack of arguments on lifting the immunity. <\/p>\n

After announcing the results of the vote, AMN MP Veceaslav Untila stated that the voting process was well organized by the communists, but this is a disgraceful vote and a proof that the parliamentary democracy begins to demolish. “Do not believe it is a victory,” Untila emphasized. <\/p>\n

The lifting of the parliamentary immunity of the AMN leader Serafim Urechean happened in his absence, he participating as observer in the local elections in Estonia. <\/p>\n

Ex-mayor general of Chisinau municipality, Serafim Urechean, head of the parliamentary group of "Our Moldova" Alliance, is accused of exceeding his authority when purchasing 40 automobiles for the Emergency Clinical Hospital in 2002, action that would have defrauded the municipal budget of over 239,000 dollars. <\/p>\n

The AMN MPs Vasile Colta and Ion Ciontoloi are accused of misconduct in office and appropriations in extremely large amounts.
