President Vladimir Voronin has received the members of the Russian delegation led by the first deputy secretary of Russia’s Security Council, Yuriy Zubakov, the presidential press service has said. <\/p>\n

The sides debates diverse aspects of the bilateral relations between the two counties, we well as the Transnistrian settlement problem. <\/p>\n

President Vladimir Voronin said that there are no contradictions in the relations between Moldova and Russia, but there is one unsettled problem – the Transnistrian problem. <\/p>\n

We are willing to go towards the final settlement of this problem in the most correct way, first of all, taking into consideration the interests of the citizens of the left bank of the Dniestre river and of all the population of Moldova, as Russia’s friendly country, which aspires to integrate into the European Union, the president said. <\/p>\n

Vladimir Voronin familiarised the members of the Russian delegation with the recent initiatives of Moldova’s parliament, with the content of the Law on Transnistria, with the government’s initiatives on the social guarantees for the Transnistrian population and on re-establishing the facilities for the region’s enterprises at the import-export operations. <\/p>\n

The members of the Russian delegation made proposals to continue at the same level of sincerity the exchange of opinions on the ways of settling the Transnistrian problem. Yuriy Zubakov stressed his country’s interest in solving the Transnistrian conflict as soon as possible. <\/p>\n

The Russian delegation was represented at the meeting by representatives of the government’s apparatus, of the Russian Security Council, the Economic Development Ministry and of the Foreign Ministry, of Gazprom, including well-known politicians in Moldova, who actively deal with the Transnistrian problems, like the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassadors-at-large, Igor Savolski and Valeriy Nesterushkin, the deputy head of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Boris Pastuhov. <\/p>\n

Following the meeting with the president, the members of the Russian delegation met the head of state’s adviser on domestic policy issues, Mark Tkaciuk and the president’s adviser on economic matters, Oleg Reidman. <\/p>\n
