The Chisinau District Electoral Council (CDEC) registered the documents of the first two candidates for the post of general mayor of the capital on Monday morning. These are Dorin Chirtoaca, representative of the Liberal Party, and Valentin Krylov, representative of “Patria-Rodina-Ravnopravie” Bloc. <\/p>\n

As the two candidates submitted the documents simultaneously, their registration was decided by draw. Thus, Dorin Chirtoaca will top the list of the electoral opponents and Valentin Krylov will be the second. <\/p>\n

Asked by reporters Krylov said it was the decision of the Bloc to put forward his candidature and not that of Valeri Klimenco, who ran in the previous local elections. He told he would fight for every voter deceived by the governing party. “The Chisinau inhabitants expressed clearly their option at the previous local elections when they voted against the communists”, the candidate said. <\/p>\n

Dorin Chirtoaca stated in turn that the results of the previous elections convinced him that the things can be changed to better and that he has chances of winning. “I want the inhabitants of the municipality to benefit by qualitative services, the City Hall to serve the public interests and to be a transparent institution,” Chirtoaca emphasised. <\/p>\n

Chirtoaca said that the electoral rivals, the electoral bodies and the whole civil society must make concerted efforts for the turnout at the elections to be high. <\/p>\n
