\"\"The first meeting of this autumn-winter session of the Parliament was convened on Thursday. In the opening speech Moldovan speaker Marian Lupu called on the MPs to work on a number of priorities regarding Moldova’s national interests and on the political reforms that had been put on the agenda of the last session. <\/p>\n

The MPs must work out a plan of actions with definite terms and responsibilities so as to honor the commitments made to the Council of Europe, Lupu said. <\/p>\n

The speaker added that important documents for the settlement of the Transdniestrian dispute had been approved at the last session. “The approval of these declarations and of the law on the fundamentals of the legal status of the Transdniestrian region was a historic moment,” Lupu said. <\/p>\n

Eugenia Ostapciuc, the leader of the Communist faction, pointed out that at this session the Communist Party would give priority to the approval of laws on the 2006 state budget, state social insurance budget, salaries in the budgetary sector, etc. <\/p>\n

Today, the MPs have analyzed a number of bills on the prevention and combating of money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as on the supplementary social protection of war invalids. The agenda of Friday’s meeting includes amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure and ratification of a number of conventions and protocols. <\/p>\n
