The Moldovan side will not participate in Joint Control Commission’s (JCC) meetings, unless the check-up posts set up near the Dorotcaia village are liquidated, and the residents of the Moldovan-run villages on the left bank of the Dniestre river are allowed access to their farmlands. <\/p>\n

The issue was considered at a JCC co-chairmen’s meeting held in Bender, on 21 September, following an initiative by Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova William Hill. <\/p>\n

The head of the Moldovan delegation to the JCC, Ion Solonenco, has told MOLDPRES that the Transnistrian side continues to shun the agreements reached earlier by the political representatives at the negotiations, Moldovan Reintegration Minister Vasile Sova and the head of the Tiraspol foreign department, Valeriy Litskay. <\/p>\n

Under the agreements, both sides were to liquidate the check-up posts and the peasants were to have free access to their land plots. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the Transnistrian side was to submit its proposals on settling the situation in the region on the basis of an agreement reached between Sova and Litskay, but the Tiraspol authorities failed to. "Tiraspol’s representatives along with Russia’s ones insist just on resuming JCC’s meetings, but our condition is that the above conditions be observed", Solonenco said. <\/p>\n

Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova William Hill today told a news conference that, for the time being, it is difficult for the sides participating in the JCC’s meetings to reach a consensus. Hill said that it is praiseworthy that there is "a common opinion on the need to resume the commission’s activity". <\/p>\n
