Moldova and Romania are two sovereign states with one nation, while the dialogue between the two countries will not develop from arrogant positions, Romanian Foreign Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu has said at a TB programme by Robert Turcescu broadcasted by Realitatea TV. <\/p>\n

Ungureanu answered this way the insistences of Turcescu regarding statements of the Romanian president about the offer of European integration. He noted that all talks with Moldovan officials focus on a deeper cooperation aimed at speeding up the European integration of Moldova. At the same time, he denied the statements regarding the offer of merger of the two states. According to the Romanian foreign minister, Bucharest respects the territorial integrity of the neighbouring state and proposes only its help on the European integration path. <\/p>\n

Minister Ungureanu underlined that Romania could be a good neighbour and an ally of Moldova for integration into the European Union, but it can be only a neighbouring state which obtained the performance of joining the E.U., if Chisinau refuses its offer. He stressed that Bucharest stands ready to help Moldova in adjusting the legislation and avoiding some mistakes in the process of approaching to the E.U. He evoked the quality of institutions in charge with integration among the main current problems of Moldova. <\/p>\n

According to Ungureanu, Romania is the only state in the region which will join the E.U. soon and it could help its neighbours Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, etc., obtain the same performances. He outlined that the public opinion of Moldova and its wishes must be taken into account when such topics are tackled. At the same time, the minister highlighted that the stances of the Romanian Foreign Ministry and presidential administration are not contrary, but the issue is shaded. <\/p>\n

Romanian President Traian Basescu said in July that he has proposed the concomitant integration of Romania and Moldova into the E.U. to his Chisinau counterpart, but the latter has turned down his initiative. Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin has stated meanwhile that Chisinau did not officially receive such an offer. At the same time, several social political movements from Moldova have created a committee to support the statement of Basescu. They intend to convoke the Great National Assembly on October 29 to debate the initiative of the Romanian president. Lecturer Vasile Ursu was elected chairman of the committee, while Ilie Bratu, leader of the Unionist Movement of Moldova, Nicolae Dabija, leader of the Democratic Forum of Romanians from Moldova, Gheorghe Vita, leader of the Union of Romanians from Bessarabia, North Bucovina and the Herta regions, and Dionisie Gutu, leader of the National Romanian Party, were elected deputy chairmen. \/\/ BASA-Press<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
