From the Russian Federation we expect the withdrawal of its army and armament, and from Ukraine &ndash; its contribution to setting up joint customs control,&rdquo; stated vice president of the Parliament Iurie Rosca on Tuesday evening, during ad-hoc debates on the draft law regarding the status of the Transdniestrian region. This document is actually &ldquo;an invitation to a civilized divorce&rdquo; or &ldquo;a velvet secession&rdquo;, said Rosca. <\/p>\n<p>Leader of the Social Liberal Party Oleg Serebrean expressed in turn his opinion about this project proposed by the Presidency saying that &quot;it would lead to the recognition of the regime from Tiraspol as international legal subject,&rdquo; opinion backed by the political commentator Oazu Nantoi, who considers that this document will lead to the international recognition of the authorities, without being necessary to grant a special status to the Transdniestrian region as in the case of Kosovo. &ldquo;This document contravenes the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and is illiterate from juridical viewpoint. It must be thoroughly modified,&rdquo; said Nantoi. <\/p>\n<p>A different position was expressed by the political analyst Nicolae Chirtoaca. In his opinion, the initiative of the Presidency must be welcomed because &ldquo;it envisages the settling of the Transdniestrian conflict according to the documents adopted by the Moldovan Parliament on June 10 currently.&rdquo; &ldquo;The conflict has a clear geopolitical dimension, and behind the separatists there is the Russian Federation which would not accept any solution that would not take account of certain interests.&rdquo; &ldquo;The bill would serve as basis for the identification of compromise solutions that could be accepted by the Russian Federation as well,&rdquo; stated Chirtoaca. <\/p>\n<p>Most of the participants in debates were unanimous in the opinion that the draft was worked out in a hurry and &ldquo;cannot be adopted by the end of the summer session of the Parliament. The experts declared themselves in favor of rejecting the current version of the draft as the future status of Transdniestria should be discussed with representatives of all the strata of the Moldovan civil society. <\/p>\n<p>It should be mentioned that the draft law on the fundamentals of the special legal status of the localities situated on the left bank of the Dniester envisages the constitution of a territorial-administrative unit in the makeup of the Republic of Moldova &ndash; Transdniestria, which would have legal status of republic. The document stipulates that Transdniestria is an inalienable component part of Moldova.
