Info-Prim-Neo \/\/ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) of the Republic of Moldova organizes today (on Tuesday) in Chisinau the ordinary reunion of GUAM National Coordinators Commission, – reports Info-Prim-Neo. <\/p>\n

According to a MFAEI release, in the reunion participate delegates from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, as well as a representative of the Euro-Atlantic Consultative Group of the Center for Cooperation Initiative in South-Eastern Europe. <\/p>\n

According to the agenda, at the reunion there will be discussed matters pertaining to the current activity of this regional arrangement, as well a steps to be taken by the Republic of Moldova, as GUAM President, for the institutionalization of this group of states. <\/p>\n

Participants will make presentations referring to the process of implementation of GUAM project for the facilitation of transport and trade and of the project for the creation of GUAM Virtual Center. Also, there will be discussed the possibilities of modification this group’s status to form a regional organization with new potential members, – says the release. <\/p>\n

GUUAM creation initiative appeared in the middle of ‘90 based on some coincidences of positions during the negotiations on the adoption of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (FACE). Subsequently, within the framework of GUUAM, there have been signed 4 political statements at the state leader level – in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2005, the last being signed in Chisinau (April 22). In May this year Uzbekistan refused to be part of GUUAM, afterwards the organization being named GUAM.
