\"\"The anticipated local elections that took place on July 10 currently in Chisinau municipality were declared by the Chisinau District Electoral Council (CDEC) as invalid. <\/p>\n

According to CDEC, the number of people that came to the polling booths to express their option in favor of a candidate for general mayor of the capital didn’t exceed the obligatory margin of one third of voters, in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, the turnout being of 26.3%. <\/p>\n

Under such circumstances, the elections were declared invalid. According to the Electoral Code, repeated elections are to take place in two weeks, that is on 24 July currently. <\/p>\n

According to the CDEC data, 577,563 voters were included in the electoral registers. <\/p>\n

CDEC asserts that after elections, the largest number of votes was garnered by the candidate of the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova, Zinaida Greceanii, she getting 50.15% of the vote. <\/p>\n

According to the results, she is followed by the independent candidate Dumitru Braghis, who garnered 20.65% of the vote. <\/p>\n

The candidate on behalf of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD), Gheorghe Susarenco accumulated 7.02% of the vote. The candidate on behalf of the Liberal Party, Dorin Chirtoaca was credited with 7.13% of the vote. <\/p>\n

Independent candidate Iuliana Gorea-Costin garnered 4.94% of the vote, she being followed by the candidate on behalf of the Electoral Bloc “Patria-Rodina-Ravnopravie”, Valeri Klimenco, with 3.9%. <\/p>\n
