\nMoldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev today had a meeting with Georgian Speaker Nino Burjanadze, just before the meeting of heads of government from the Commonweatlth of Independent States (CIS) member countries. <\/p>\n

Tarlev and Burjanadze stressed the importance of Georgian President Mikhail Saakhashvili’s official visit to Moldova, underlining that it has given a new impetus to the Moldovan-Georgian relations. The further development of the two countries’ partnership will contribute to strengthening the legislative basis of bilateral relations, particularly the signing of documents wich are being considered at present, Tarlev said. He especially pointed out the need to speed up the preparation of the normative basis to develop the bilateral economic cooperation. <\/p>\n

Burjanadze said the Georgian parliament is willing to adopt and speed up the ratification of legislative documents streamlined towards enlarging bilateral cooperation. She underlined the need to improve the parliamentary groups’s activity. <\/p>\n

The sides stressed the importance to strengthen the two countries’ partnership, both within regional and international organizations. <\/p>\n

The two officials considered possibilities to counteract threats to international security, solv regional conflicts, combat terrorism, extremism and separatism. They underlined the opportunity to set up within the GUAM (organisation including Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia and Moldova) a structure such as a terrorism combating centre. <\/p>\n

Touching upon the issue over territorial integrity the two countries confront with, the sides voiced interest in a more active involvement of various international organizations to solve the issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
