\n\"\"The Chisinau District Electoral Commission has commenced accepting documents from candidates wishing to partake in the July 10 early election of Chisinau Mayor. <\/p>\n

By the Electoral Code, applications are accepted and numbered as they arrive. Accordingly, the earlier you apply, the higher your position in the ballot paper is going to be. Bearing this very important circumstance in mind, 4 applicants were waiting at the Commission door before 9 o’clock this morning. Those were MP George Susarenco of the Christian Democratic Popular Party, Vladimir Guritenco (of the Democratic Party, the Pretor of Chisinau’s Botanica sector), George Sima (Chairman of the Patria-Rodina Labor Union, former Minister of Education), and Valery Klimenko (Patria-Rodina voting bloc, Chairman of the Ravnopraviye [Equal Rights] Socio-Political Movement). <\/p>\n

Each of them insisted on receiving number 1 in the ballot list. For such cases, Article 44 of the Electoral Code stipulates holding of a drawing, which was exactly done, to an utter delight of Valery Klimenko’s, who was lucky today. Number 2 was assigned to Susarenco, 3 – to Sima, and 4 to Guritenco. <\/p>\n

The Commission is supposed to consider each applicant’s documents within maximum 7 days, after which the documents must be either registered officially or returned to the applicants if something is wrong with them. It is only upon the official registration that an applicant becomes a candidate, and may embark on his or her election campaigning. <\/p>\n

The Commission will cease accepting documents on June 10, i.e. one month before the voting day. <\/p>\n

Four applications were submitted to Chisinau District Election Council Chisinau District Election Council (CDEC) started on Monday, May 23 to register the applications of the candidates for the position of general mayor of Chisinau municipality. Thus, the documents can be submitted till Friday between 09.00am-01.00pm at the municipal Mayoralty where CDEC headquarters is located. Valeri Klimenko, leader of social-political movement "Ravnopravie" preferred to submit the acts with the announcement that the movement he heads and "Patria-Rodina" Party will participate in elections from July 10 in a common electoral bloc. CDEC Secretary, Ala Andronachi stated for REPORTER.MD that today, four candidates for the position of general mayor of the capital submitted their documents. The first on the list was included Valeri Klimenko, representative of the electoral bloc "Patria-Rodina" – Ravnopravie. He being followed by Gheorghe Susarenco, on behalf of Christian Democratic People’s Party, Gheorghe Sima, on behalf of Labor Union "Patria-Rodina" and Vladimir Guritenco, on behalf of Democratic Party of Moldova.
