Georgia’s authorities have confirmed their willingness to execute the decision taken by Georgian Parliament and starting May 15 to announce unilateral transferance of the Russian bases in "the evacuation regime", Radio Svoboda informs. <\/p>\n

"This decision will be applied if no progress is seen in the next future," stated on Thursday president of the Georgian Parliament Nino Burdjianadze. Referring to a possible compromise regarding the term of Russian troops’ presence in Batumi and Ahalkalaki, Burjanadze stated that "practically no steps are undertaken by Russia." <\/p>\n

Georgia wants the ending of the evacuation till the middle of 2007, while Russia states that this thing is impossible "from technical and practical viewpoint." <\/p>\n

Georgia’s Parliament adopted on March 10 a decision, according to which if till May 15 no agreement on the term of Russian bases evacuation is reached Tbilisi will seek from Moscow to stop the functioning of the bases till January 1, 2006.
