"Moldova, in its new capacity of GUUAM (regional organization including Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Moldova) chairman, will continue to strengthen the relations between the member-countries and to extend the collaboration between them. All the problems the GUUAM member-states are currently facing could be settled by cooperation", Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin has said at the end of the summit. <\/p>\n

"We will further collaborate in combating terrorism, human traffic, traffic in drugs and organized crime – problems all the GUUAM member-states are confronting with", Voronin said. <\/p>\n

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said all the regional conflicts could be removed from the agenda only after the GUUAM member-states are democratised. "The recent events that took place in Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova represented a new stage in this respect", Saakashvili said. <\/p>\n

Ukraine’s President Viktor Yushchenko said the participants in the summit witnessed the opening of a new page in the history of this political organization. <\/p>\n

"The principles GUUAM’s activity is based on are democracy, economic development, stability and security of the member-countries. Ukraine today mainly focused on the Transnistrian conflict, and we expect support from our colleagues in order to move this conflict from the still point were it stopped. The plan on the settlement of the conflict will be worked out in line with the European standards and Moldova’s constitution", Yushchenko said. <\/p>\n

Azeri head of state Ilham Aliev said GUUAM turns into a major force in the region of the Balkans and the Black Sea. "It is quite important that common points have been found in order to solve the frozen conflicts", Aliev stressed. <\/p>\n

Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus said the today summit is a sign for Europe that GUUAM is a very strong regional structure. <\/p>\n

Romanian President Traian Basescu said his country is interested in stability and security in the Black Sea region. "The security in this region is the main condition for a better future of these countries. Moldova is the greatest political priority for Romania. As a good friend of all the GUUAM member-states, I have come to Chisinau to assure that Romania will offer all its support", Basescu said. <\/p>\n
