The parliament will hold a special session on April 19 to scrutinize the members and the governing programme of the new cabinet of ministers whom nominee premier Vasile Tarlev wants to take in his team.<\/p>\n

No names to ministerial posts have been made public yet. President Vladimir Voronin had earlier said "most ministers" would remain in the new executive, and in their posts. The chief of state particularly pointed to Andrei Stratan who would retain his job as foreign minister. Knowledgeable sources said meanwhile that Vasili Sova would continue acting as the minister of reintegration.<\/p>\n

The nominee prime minister will present the governing programme and will introduce the new ministers and department chiefs in accordance with the ministries and agencies which the parliament approved on Thursday. The future executive will comprise 15 ministries, as well as 12 services, bureaus and agencies whose heads will not be members of cabinet, but will exert limited competences.<\/p>\n

President Voronin underlined the priorities of the future cabinet when he nominated the premier. These are: reintegration of country, implementation of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper, of the European Union’s Action Plan for Moldova, of the medium-term spending programme, implementation of the Moldovan Village national programme, of the national society information programme, education reform, development of table sport and culture, continuation of science reform, liberalisation of economy, debureaucracy of economy, reduction of corruption rate among police structures.<\/p>\n

The staffs of the future executive will lose 70 percent of bureaucracy by November 14. The remaining personnel will get larger salaries and will be employed on contest bases.<\/p>\n

The new executive and its programme need the support of at least 51 out of the 101 elected lawmakers in order to get the formal appointments and begin work.
