\"\"Deputy Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, leader of the Christian Democratic Popular Party Iurie Rosca says that his party may well take part in government formation. <\/p>\n

Rosca appeared in The Viewpoint television program on the First Channel in Moldova last Saturday evening, saying, "Everything will depend on the Government composition, and on what Prime Minister Vasily Tarlev is going to offer. In any way, Tarlev may feel calm: the Communists have enough votes to appoint a new Government themselves. I think this will be done very quickly, and one of the reasons to this is the GUUAM Summit to be held in Chisinau on April 22. [GUUAM is a regional organization uniting Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Moldova.] This is going to be a very important forum, and we need to be very well prepared to it. Therefore, it is necessary to complete the formation of all state power structures here". <\/p>\n

Iurie Rosca explained this was one of the CDPP’s considerations due to which the previously utterly anti-communist party decided to support the candidature of Communist Voronin for presidency. <\/p>\n

"But the chief reason is that Vladimir Voronin has considerably changed. It is not Rosca or his faction who have betrayed their principles. It’s the country’s course that has changed. It’s not Rosca who has taken Voronin’s positions or vice versa. We both have made steps towards each other – in the Republic of Moldova’s interests", explained the CDPP leader, adding that "the mistakes of Russia’s and Vladimir Putin’s have brought the power and the opposition in Moldova together on the grounds of national interests". <\/p>\n

He admitted that with their actions last 2 years, the Communists "have left the opposition without its slogans", that the positions of the ruling party and the opposition now coincide on such principal issues as European integration, Transnistrian conflict settlement, languages legislation, and some other. <\/p>\n

"A totally new political situation has emerged after the enactment of the EU-Moldova Action Plan last February 22. This document gives us 3 years to cardinally reform the country. The Christian Democrats had 2 ways to chose between – to participate in the country reforming, or to remain aside. We have decided to participate", said Iurie Rosca. <\/p>\n

He reminded that the Christian Democratic Popular Party had put forward a number of proposals to reform the current legislation. <\/p>\n

"These were not conditions to the President, but demands to carry out a legislation reform, which work is Parliament’s duty. I understand we all have little time, so the CDPP will be taking part in realization of these demands aimed at the whole society’s good", Rosca said. <\/p>\n

He stressed the CDPP remains in the opposition "but is standing up against the confrontation, which the Moldovan society is sick and tired of. Orange remains our party color. This is the color of revolution only for politicians like [former Ukrainian President] Leonid Kuchma who did not wish to change his outlooks. We are not going to make revolution sole for the sake of revolution, although somebody asked us to, and even offered a big money for this". <\/p>\n

He refused to mention the names of the "somebody" out of consideration of political correctness, and only said, "These were the representatives of forces which do not wish good to our country, but which want to ruin Moldova.
