\"\"President Vladimir Voronin attended on Wednesday morning a religious service at the Nasterea Domnului Cathedral in Chisinau, on occasion of the Christian Orthodox holiday Annunciation. The bishop of Chisinau and Entire Moldova, Vladimir, blessed Voronin and thanked him for "the positive and nice actions for the nation and for assisting the Orthodox Church in the past four years." <\/p>\n

Then the president arrived to the Palace of the Republic, where hundreds of invitees were waiting for him to be sworn in. The chairman of the Constitutional Court, Victor Puscas, opened the ceremony by confirming the results of presidential election. <\/p>\n

Voronin was sworn before the Constitutional Court judges, members of parliament, foreign ambassadors etc. Moldova’s first president Mircea Snegur, too, attended this ceremony. <\/p>\n

"The events the past days represent a kind of prologue of an absolutely new stage in history of our country. The election of the chief of state served for the first time as s sort of unique occasion for union and consolidation of different political forces," President Voronin said. He noted that "this is a result of a political evolution of our society in the past years. It is evident to everybody that the goal is the European future of our country and mobilization of forces for accomplishment of this perspective." <\/p>\n

"Moldova is not succeeding alone to the very difficult way to Europe," but it goes ahead to the European integration objectives "along with some old and devoted friends," underlined the chief of state, envisaging Ukraine and Georgia. <\/p>\n

Voronin named the priorities of his new mandate. "A lot of work is waiting for you. We must accomplish three purposes the next years. Firstly, unbiased and incorruptible courts, competent and modern mass media, all the modern mechanism of expression of will must serve our society. All the talks about edification of a local democracy must be left aside. <\/p>\n

Secondly, we must use "the bridgehead" of the current sudden economic change for better in order to achieve a great post-industrial jump, so that the economic development be based first of all on resources such as science and top technologies. <\/p>\n

Thirdly, we must create a modern system of social guarantees. These are not guarantees only for an accessible health assistance system, material support of mothers, a high pension insurance level. It also means guarantees for a better education level and cultural development," Voronin underlined. <\/p>\n

Also, he highlighted the need to reintegrate the state. "Moldova’s European option has increased the number of our friends. This support comes more strongly and I am confident that it will help us shortly reunify the country," the chief of state stressed. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Voronin receives in continuation greetings over his reelection as chief of state. The presidents of Georgia and Azerbaijan greeted Voronin the first. The CIS executive secretary, the president of Belarus, the patriarch of Moscow and Entire Russia, Alexy, the regional director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, deputy speaker of the Russian State Duma, Russia’s regional development minister, king of Bahrain, of Emir of Qatar, and Israeli president greeted the Moldovan president on Thursday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
