\"\"The Democratic Moldova parliamentary faction, which changed on Saturday its name into Our Moldova Alliance (AMN), could lose three members who represent the Social Liberal Party (PSL). <\/p>\n

AMN faction deputy chairman Oleg Serebrian, the PSL leader, has told BASA that he considers the possibility to withdraw from the AMN group. "I dislike the new name, because it favours only one of the two parties in the former Democratic Moldova Bloc." <\/p>\n

The PSL leader was evasive when asked whether Social Liberals would take part in the presidential election this Monday afternoon. "I said on Friday that the Social Liberal parliamentarians will receive the ballot papers and will enter the polling booth, but today I am not so sure about what we are going to do. The PSL leadership had decided to participate in the voting, and I hope the AMN would change its mind about boycotting the election,," Serebrian stated. <\/p>\n

Three Social Liberal parliamentarians entered the new parliament on Democratic Moldova Bloc lists. <\/p>\n

Eight parliamentarians of the Democratic Party headed by leader Dumitru Diacov withdrew from the Democratic Moldova faction at the very first sitting of the new legislature. <\/p>\n

Two candidates compete for the post of national leader: acting President Vladimir Voronin and Gheorghe Duca, chairman of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences. The Party of Moldovan Communists (PCRM) proposed both of them. <\/p>\n

The Democratic Party said that its participation in the election is "likely," while 11 lawmakers representing the Christian Democratic People’s Party and 26 parliamentarians of Our Moldova decided to boycott the vote. Sixty-one 61 votes are necessary to be elected.
