If there is street disorder and pressure on the day of the president’s elections, the leader of the Democraic Moldova Bloc (BMD), Serafim Urechean, and those of his entourage who plot such plans will bear the political and juridical responsibility, a well-known western political analyst, Vladimir Socor, said. <\/p>\n

Socor said in an interview given exclusively with MOLDPRES, that a part of the BMD MPs, especially the closest ones to Urechean, discussed plans to set pickets and cordons around the parliament building on 4 April, in order to prevent physically the lawmakers from entering the building, and thus, they will not be able to elect the president, and in such a way to force the run-off parliamentary elections. <\/p>\n

"Participants in meetings of the BMD factions and of the Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) coordinative councul for several days are planning two movements in order to encircle the parliament building: to bring supporters from districts with busses to Chisinau for this action, and to use on the first line a group of former fighters who are subordinated to Urechean, including from the latter’s personal guard", Vladimir Socor said. <\/p>\n

"This preparation for street disorder is known by many BMD and AMN politicioans, as well as by the editors of the newspapers who support Urechean. They want that their preparation remain a secret, for the time being, as the citizens’ overwhelming majority, including most BMD electors, would disapprove such anti-democratic plans. Those of the fighters’ group say in private debates that they are prepared to resort to physical force", Socor said. <\/p>\n

The analyst also said there is no ground to force the repeating of the parliamentary elections, since the elected parliament is fully lawful. "The western observers described the polls, in general, as free and fair. Moldova cannot afford to lose time and money and to enter a new cycle of political confrontations with high risks of instability", Socor said. <\/p>\n

He specified that the overwhelming majority of the population does not wish run-off elections. A quite small number of nomenklature members from districts and villages wish the polls, who are not concerned either with the national interest or with the interest of their own electors, but only with the wish to enter the parliament by the repeating of the elections at any cost, event at the cost of destabilizing. <\/p>\n

"I am sure, however, that more BMD MPs does not want the repeating of the parliamentary elections. But they are held under pressure and blackmail by a group which gathered around Urechean. Namely this small group relies on the use of force with a vain hope to trigger new parliamentary elections. Such an anti-democratic procedure would be certainly condemnded by the international democratic community", Socor stressed. <\/p>\n

"Urechean is not a revolutioner, he is guided from behind by several members of his entourage and by Russia ‘s interests, that wishes to destabilize Moldova by the repeating of the parliamentary polls.
