\"\"Democratic Moldova Bloc faction (BMD) decided on Tuesday that it will not field any candidate for the position of head of state and will not vote for a communist president. <\/p>\n

On Tuesday morning, BMD MPs convoked to decide on the conduct of the faction at the election of the head of state. According to the press secretary of BMD, Victor Osipov, MPs of the faction will participate in the examination of the candidates registered by the special commission for elections of the president, only if nobody represents the Communist Party. Otherwise, BMD MPs will boycott the process of electing the head of state and will not enter the polling booth. <\/p>\n

Also, in case the head of state is not elected on April 4, BMD could put up its own candidate for the second round of elections. Osipov mentioned that the identity of an eventual BMD candidate was not yet established. <\/p>\n

Earlier, the faction of the Christian Democratic People’s Party made up of 11 MPs announced trenchantly it will boycott the process of electing the new head of state. In case the parliamentary group Democratic Party (PD) formed of 8 MPs also refuses to enter the polling booth, the votes of those 54 communist MPs will not be sufficient for electing a president. PD will decide on its tactics today in the afternoon. <\/p>\n

According to the secretary of the Special Commission for electing the president, communist MP Semion Dragan, till now the Commission registered only the candidature of the current head of state Vladimir Voronin, proposed by 34 Communist MPs.
