\"\"Central Electoral Commission (CEC) handed on Tuesday the permits of MPs to the new members of the Parliament of the XVI Legislature. CEC President Petru Railean expressed his hope that the new members will prove professionalism and fidelity to the supreme values of democracy and will follow the course of integration into the European community. <\/p>\n

The leaders of those three parliamentary parties promised to fulfill their electoral promises and provide the population with a decent living, guarantee the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union and consolidate the state of law. President of the Communist Party (PCRM), Vladimir Voronin stated that the communist MPs are coming in the new Parliament with the hope to achieve new ideas and progresses. “We have the same country, the same interests and the same people, who the Parliament is obliged to serve,” underlined Voronin. He pointed out three strategic objectives that are going to be fulfilled: the European integration, social welfare and economic development. <\/p>\n

In his turn the leader of Democratic Moldova Bloc (BMD) Serafim Urechean wished his new colleagues understanding and cooperation, reminding them at the same time of their obligation to carry out the electoral program. Urechean mentioned that his party will opt in the Parliament for prosperity, European integration and a decent living for the people. <\/p>\n

President of the Christian Democratic People’s Party, Iurie Rosca refused to make statements from the rostrum but being asked by the journalists he mentioned that the new Parliament will focus on implementing the EU-Moldova Plan of Actions and on consolidating the state of law. He underlined that his party will not participate in the presidential elections saying at the same time that Vladimir Voronin has all the chances to keep his position as President of the Republic of Moldova. <\/p>\n

Answering the questions of the press, Voronin said that at present he is negotiating with the opposition with a view to electing the head of state, but he mentioned that these talks do not refer to a coalition, but to the identification of some principles of cooperation with the other parties and factions from the Parliament. Voronin announced that a new plenary meeting of the PCRM Central Committee will take place on Wednesday, March 23, where it should be taken a decision regarding the formation of ruling bodies of the Parliament. <\/p>\n

In his turn Serafim Urechean stated that he excludes the possibility of electing Voronin as President of the country, mentioning that if needed BMD will put forward its own candidate for this position. Urechean also underlined that he rejects the possibility of organizing anticipated parliamentary elections, saying that this would be the last variant in case the President of the country is not elected. <\/p>\n
