The RM President demand the refutation of the reporting, given in the news program of the Russian Company “ The First Channel” in the evening on March 16, 2005 and in the evening on March 17, 2005 about a working sitting by the RM President Vladimir Voronin on taking social protection measures for supporting the veterans of the Second World War in the connection with the 60th anniversary of the completion of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. <\/p>\n

The First Channel interpreted Vladimir Voronin’s initiative to pay direct compensations to all the veterans of the Second World War irrespective of on which side they fought during the war as a decision to pay compensations to the veterans, which fought on the side of the fascist Germany. <\/p>\n

Moreover, this clip was combined with the clip, showing the march of the SS veterans in Riga. <\/p>\n

The statement, circulated today by the press service of the RM President, notes that the Moldovan citizens accepted the comments of the First Channel with indignation. The document underlines that the complete ignorance of the realities of the Republic of Moldova, the history of the Second World War and the (own) Soviet history by such respectable Company as the First Channel calls forth misunderstanding. <\/p>\n

“The participants in the Second World War – the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, served in the Romanian and in the Red Armies were equaled in their rights on the basis of the Law, approved in 1993. The same Law did not give any rights to the those, condemned lawfully for having committed genocide crimes against the world and the mankind”,- the statement says. <\/p>\n

It notes that the commentators of the First Channel should know that the Romanian Army were on the side of the anti-Hitler coalition since August 1944 and the Soviet military and political leadership awarded the “Victory” order to Romanian King Mihai I together with ten Marchals of the Soviet Union, an Army General Josif Broz Tito, Mihail Rolea-Jimerschii, Duat Eisenhaur, Bernard Low Montgomery. <\/p>\n

“There is nothing in common between the manifestations of the former SS voluntaries and the mobilized soldiers of the Second World War, who did not commit the above crimes and contributed by their blood into the victory over the fascist obscurantism”, the statement, circulated today by the press service of the RM President, underlines. <\/p>\n

It notes that the technically skillful and professional compilation of the video row by the “Masters” of the black piarr of the Company discredit the First Channel, which is watched in Moldova with attention and is not switched off, even when it pours provocative lie and incorrect information”. For this reason the confidence to the news, given by the First Channel is reduced considerably. Our country waits for the true information on the Republic of Moldova”, the statement says. <\/p>\n
