Presidential press service announces that head of state Vladimir Voronin signed on Thursday the decree of convoking the new elected Parliament. This procedure is envisaged by the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and by the Regulations of Moldova’s Parliament. <\/p>\n

In the first meeting the MPs elect the leadership of the Parliament – the president and those two vice presidents. The speaker is elected at parties’ suggestion, by secret vote, by the majority of votes, each party has the right to advance one candidature. Vice presidents of the Parliament are elected also by the majority of votes, at President’s suggestion, after close consultations with the parties. <\/p>\n

Parliamentary parties are formed within ten days after legal constitution of the Parliament, on the initiative of at least five MPs.
