(Itar-Tass) – The Moldovan opposition does not rule out the possibility of a “Ukrainian scenario” being staged after the parliamentary elections on March 6. <\/p>\n

“There is a communist dictatorship in our country and, consequently, there are conditions for a revolution”, Leader of the pro-Romanian Christian-Democratic People’s Party (CDPP) Yuri Rosca told reporters here. His party, which had staged more than one large student demonstration in the streets of Chisinau, hastened to clad the Moldovan capital in orange garb and to put up posters, depicting Rosca next to Viktor Yushchenko. The CDPP has “booked” the central square of the capital for a two-week meeting, which is to be held after the elections. <\/p>\n

“We shall oust the communists without any orange revolution,” the leader of the “Democratic Moldova” largest opposition bloc and Mayor of Chisinau, Serafim Urechean, declared. <\/p>\n

He does not rule out the possibility of protest actions being held if there were attempts to rig the elections. “A peaceful way to settle the situation should be sought, but the people have the right to turn out into the streets,” Urechean told a press conference here. <\/p>\n

“The communists are inciting general psychosis and hatching a plan for social clashes, which are to be provoked after the elections,” he stated. Urechean denied press reports that western nations had remitted to the Moldovan opposition six million U.S. dollars to hold protest actions. <\/p>\n

The results of the February public opinion polls were encouraging for the ruling Moldovan Party of Communists. According to different predictions, it may poll from 49 to 61 per cent of the votes. <\/p>\n

The Democratic Moldova Bloc may get from 21 to 28 per cent of the votes, and the CDPP – from 10 to 15 per cent. The remaining nine parties and blocs have practically no chances to jump the election hurdle.
