The Wednesday’s commentary of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) concerning Moldovan Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan’s statement at the OSCE Sofia conference "fails to answer [Chisinau’s] question about the legitimacy of the presence of the Limited Group of Russian Troops [OGRV] in the Republic of Moldova territory", the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in its response statement today. <\/p>\n

In Sofia, Minister Stratan named the Russian troops’ presence in Transnistria as "illegal foreign occupation", and the Russian Ministry yesterday named his sayings as "absurd, irresponsible, and definitely unfriendly". <\/p>\n

The Moldovan Ministry wrote once again that linking of the OGRV presence and keeping of Russian military depots and armaments in the Republic of Moldova territory with the solution of Moldovan State’s domestic political problems is a gross interference into the State’s home affairs". <\/p>\n

"The Moldovan side’s decision to not sign the Kozak Memorandum may be interpreted in various ways, but that decision was taken by the authorities of a sovereign and independent state with regard to the country’s domestic problem. Therefore, it cannot be used as a reason to suspend the withdrawal of Russian troops and weapons. If the Russian side openly mentions such kind of reason, then this is but a blackmail which is unbecoming of such a country of international weight", the Statement said. <\/p>\n

Its authors expressed surprise over the Russian Ministry’s striving for finding a moral substantiation to the Russian military presence in Moldova "on the basis of our common Soviet history, close and trusting relations between our countries and peoples, the great feat of arms by the Soviet people during the Second World War". <\/p>\n

"We have always been sure that exactly that past compels our countries to find common language with each other in any situations.
