The old man has been driving his motorboat for three years already. He took dozens of tourists on the boat, but he had never seen the river from the front deck. Nobody except him knows how to drive it &#8211; you have to take special courses to do it. \u201cI became a sailor when I was already old\u201d, jokes Iurie, fixing his sailor cap with the word \u201c\u041e\u0414\u0415\u0421\u0421\u0410\u201d (Odessa) printed over the visor. They preferred to open an agropension so they can offer \u201chome made\u201d everything. This is how they attract visitors &#8211; with comfort food and homey atmosphere. They can accommodate up to 17 guests. And if Iurie is in charge of taking tourists on tours on Nistru river, Leonora takes them to the \u201cIagorl\u00eec\u201d Natural Reservation.<br \/><br \/>Iurie has a parently like way of talking and he always smiles. He turns the wheel of the boat, gazing into the distance and not able to get enough of the beauty around him. It\u2019s his favourite place &#8211; Nistru meets the Iagorl\u00eec river and it looks as if it becomes one big sea. From one side, you have the Nistru river, and from the other &#8211; Iagorl\u00eec, small gulfs surrounding it.<br \/><br \/>The area looked entirely different some time ago. Goian and Iagorl\u00eec villages, located both on a hill, changed completely when the hydropower plant was built in Dub\u0103sari in the 50s. Because of it, the debit of the Nistru river was higher and flooded the river banks, and the houses from Iagorl\u00eec located at the foot of the hill have disappeared under the water. But it doesn\u2019t really matter for people without cars, because the streets are made of rock and thanks to this mud is rarely a problem. \u201cThe water flows in a stream down the hill. The village is like a ball and all the water flows in the Nistru river\u201d, explains Leonora.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 17.6px;\">The village is so small you can see the river from any hill you climb. \u201cWe brag about our village, like we\u2019re in Switzerland\u201d, says Leonora, proud of the place where she lives. She knows everything there is to know about the village and its people. For example, she mentioned Switzerland because of a Swiss man who moved to Goian. Leonora says that he first came here in 92 and built a house in the village. Then four more friends came to Moldova and they also built a house here because they liked the village so much. They would come here for holidays, but the first Swiss moved to the village permanently.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 17.6px;\">Leonora remembers that the man of over 70 years of age loved the \u201cBuket Moldavii\u201d wine and local cheese very much. He died five or six years ago of a heart attack. But what makes this story different is that in his will he asked for his body and hid the dog&#8217;s body to be cremated, and their ashes scattered over Nistru river.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section They have opened it recently to have and additional income. While it is still warm, she waits for the customers outside. She only goes in when a fellow villager comes for a shot of liquor. The woman\u2019s short hair resembles the hair style of Dora the Explorer. She fixes her glasses and continues telling stories about her village. Leonora says that in the past she worked in the local administration and knows that from the 400 houses in the village, 200 are for sale.<\/p><p>Leonora herself looks like a real Dora the Explorer &#8211; she explores nature, climbing the three thousand steps to the observational point on top of the hill in the Iagorl\u00eec Natural Reservation without getting out of breath even at her age; she likes adventure &#8211; the woman says that when she will not be able to jump over the five limestone blocks fence of her house it is when she will know that she\u2019s gotten from other Moldovan villages are the indicators on the streets. They are written in Russian, reminding you that you walk on \u201csoviet\u201d streets: Ponomari St, Gagarin St, Lenin St, Kalinina St, Ion Canna St. The last one is a writer born in Goian in 1902. In the period of 1942-1944, during the Second World War, together with other writers and poets he was \u201ccompletely artistically engaged on the war front\u201d on the side of the USSR. In the works of many of these authors you can often find words like \u201cguardists\u201d, \u201cpartisans\u201d, \u201cliberators\u201d or \u201cavengers\u201d. These texts were read by Canna and others on the Radio Committee. They cannot be considered literary works because<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/oaji.net\/articles\/2017\/4586-1488357845.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> they are dominated by ideology and have a mobilizing propagandistic feature<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Don\u2019t think that the people from the village became famous for their grains at some agro exhibition. Not even for the horses winning at races. Nor for the dogs present in each household. Np. Goian was famous for its roosters, who would sing mightily and masterfully. The village was located at the crossroads of three guberniyas: Bessarabia, Herson and Podolia. The first rooster to wake up was old lady Ileana\u2019s and you could think that he was singing mightily on purpose for the rooster in all three guberniyas to answer at once.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The village was situated at the foot of the Platon hill, covered with vineyards and orchards. From afar, it looked like a pointy and shaggy hat. it is not random that people called this hill Platon. The elderly would tell the children the history of the Russian-Turkish war in 1811. During the war, the Russian soldiers led by the ataman from the Don region called Platon, reached the Mocr\u00eei-Iagorl\u00eec creek flowing on versants of Goian and besieged the village occupied by the Turks. They preferred to open an agropension so they can offer \u201chome made\u201d everything. This is how they attract visitors &#8211; with comfort food and homey atmosphere. They can accommodate up to 17 guests. And if Iurie is in charge of taking tourists on tours on Nistru river, Leonora takes them to the \u201cIagorl\u00eec\u201d Natural Reservation.<br \/><br \/>Iurie has a parently like way of talking and he always smiles. He turns the wheel of the boat, gazing into the distance and not able to get enough of the beauty around him. It\u2019s his favourite place &#8211; Nistru meets the Iagorl\u00eec river and it looks as if it becomes one big sea. From one side, you have the Nistru river, and from the other &#8211; Iagorl\u00eec, small gulfs surrounding it.<br \/><br \/>The area looked entirely different some time ago. Goian and Iagorl\u00eec villages, located both on a hill, changed completely when the hydropower plant was built in Dub\u0103sari in the 50s. Because of it, the debit of the Nistru river was higher and flooded the river banks, and the houses from Iagorl\u00eec located at the foot of the hill have disappeared under the water. But it doesn\u2019t really matter for people without cars, because the streets are made of rock and thanks to this mud is rarely a problem. \u201cThe water flows in a stream down the hill. The village is like a ball and all the water flows in the Nistru river\u201d, explains Leonora.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 17.6px;\">The village is so small you can see the river from any hill you climb. \u201cWe brag about our village, like we\u2019re in Switzerland\u201d, says Leonora, proud of the place where she lives. She knows everything there is to know about the village and its people. For example, she mentioned Switzerland because of a Swiss man who moved to Goian. Leonora says that he first came here in 92 and built a house in the village. Then four more friends came to Moldova and they also built a house here because they liked the village so much. They would come here for holidays, but the first Swiss moved to the village permanently.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 17.6px;\">Leonora remembers that the man of over 70 years of age loved the \u201cBuket Moldavii\u201d wine and local cheese very much. He died five or six years ago of a heart attack. But what makes this story different is that in his will he asked for his body and hid the dog&#8217;s body to be cremated, and their ashes scattered over Nistru Leonora says that in the past she worked in the local administration and knows that from the 400 houses in the village, 200 are for sale.<\/p><p>Leonora herself looks like a real Dora the Explorer &#8211; she explores nature, climbing the three thousand steps to the observational point on top of the hill in the Iagorl\u00eec Natural Reservation without getting out of breath even at her age; she likes adventure &#8211; the woman says that when she will not be able to jump over the five limestone blocks fence of her house it is when she will know that she\u2019s gotten from other Moldovan villages are the indicators on the streets. In the period of 1942-1944, during the Second World War, together with other writers and poets he was \u201ccompletely artistically engaged on the war front\u201d on the side of the USSR. In the works of many of these authors you can often find words like \u201cguardists\u201d, \u201cpartisans\u201d, \u201cliberators\u201d or \u201cavengers\u201d. These texts were read by Canna and others on the Radio Committee. Goian was famous for its roosters, who would sing mightily and masterfully. The village was located at the crossroads of three guberniyas: Bessarabia, Herson and Podolia. The first rooster to wake up was old lady Ileana\u2019s and you could think that he was singing mightily on purpose for the rooster in all three guberniyas to answer at once.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The village was situated at the foot of the Platon hill, covered with vineyards and orchards. From afar, it looked like a pointy and shaggy hat. it is not random that people called this hill Platon. The elderly would tell the children the history of the Russian-Turkish war in 1811. During the war, the Russian soldiers led by the ataman from the Don region called Platon, reached the Mocr\u00eei-Iagorl\u00eec creek flowing on versants of Goian and besieged the village occupied by the Turks.
