Today, 61 Members of Parliament<\/strong> (MPs) voted<\/a> in favour of the program and the composition of the Government led by Natalia Gavrilita. The new Cabinet of Ministers will have 13 ministries, instead of 9, as it has been so far. Four of the existing ministries are to be reformed. “We will start our work immediately,”\u00a0<\/em>claimed<\/a> the newly elected prime minister while receiving congratulations.<\/p>\n

“We will clean the state institutions of corrupt people. We will do everything possible for the judiciary to clean itself of interest groups that sell decisions and protect thieves. We will do everything possible to recover money from billions and other schemes. We will aim at confiscating the assets of the corrupt and that money we will use to repair schools, asylums, culture centres and roads.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The program of the Government includes the following directions: justice and anti-corruption; economy and entrepreneurship; infrastructure and regional development; health; social protection and work; public finances; agriculture; environment protection; public administration and local autonomy; education and research; culture; youth and sports; free media; diaspora policies; external politics; internal affairs; security and defence; and reintegration of the country.<\/p>\n

The Gavrilita Government announced its priorities for\u00a0the first months of its term: effective management of the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the justice reform and anti-corruption package, population incomes increase, social protection of vulnerable groups, and restoring external financing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Maia Sandu<\/strong> congratulated the Government team, saying that she puts her trust in the professionalism and capabilities of the team led by Natalia Gavrilita. “The challenges are great and the expectations are even higher. All the knowledge and experience you have gained so far was just a preparatory stage for this important mission. You have all of my support, the support of Parliament and that of our strategic partners, but it is very important that you also have the support of citizens. Be close to people, talk to them and make any decision based on the interests and needs of citizens. I wish you to do your job with honour, with dignity and with a lot of courage!”<\/em> declared<\/a> the head of state.<\/p>\n

According to the Constitution, the President of the Republic of Moldova appoints the Government based on the vote of confidence granted by Parliament. The Cabinet of Ministers takes office on the day the oath is taken before the head of state.<\/p>\n
