The member of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), Natalia Gavrilita<\/strong>, was nominated for the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova<\/strong> by her colleagues from the majority government.<\/p>\n

On July 30, after making the official announcement, President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu<\/strong> held consultations with parliamentary groups to discuss the candidate(s) for the position of PM. “The PAS parliamentary group nominated Natalia Gavrilita for the position of Prime Minister and we are convinced that, in the shortest time, she will gather more than the required number of votes in Parliament,”<\/em> declared<\/a> Vice-President of Parliament, Mihail Popsoi<\/strong>, after the presidential consultations with the PAS representatives.<\/p>\n

The “Shor” parliamentary group announced<\/a> that their MPs are ready to vote the candidate nominated by the majority government. The Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) did not come to the consultations at all, saying that they are waiting for the president at the Parliament. Vice-President of the BCS, Corneliu Furculita<\/strong>, announced<\/a> that the socialist and communist MPs would not support Natalia Gavrilita’s candidacy for the head of the Government.<\/p>\n

President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, appointed Natalia Gavrilita as the candidate for the position of Prime Minister and signed the decree in this regard. “Mrs. Gavrilita must set up the team and elaborate the governing program in 2 weeks, which will be presented to the Parliament,”<\/em> informed<\/a> President Maia Sandu.<\/p>\n

According to the Constitution, after consulting the parliamentary groups, the President of the Republic of Moldova appoints a candidate for the position of Prime Minister, and the candidate requests the vote of confidence of Parliament after the program and the composition of the new Government is debated.<\/span> The deadline is 15 days after the appointment.<\/p>\n

Natalia Gavrilita announced that the list of candidates for the heads of ministries would be published at the beginning of next week.<\/p>\n

“Congratulations to Natalia Gavrilita for her appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova! Next to Maia Sandu, she has the extraordinary chance to change the destiny of her country forever. It is a monumental task, which few politicians have. The coming months will be decisive for the new Government. I am confident that the pro-European path on which Maia Sandu started with unprecedented perseverance is starting to become a reality,”<\/em> said<\/a> the MEP Dragos Tudorache<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Previously, Natalia Gavrilita held office of Minister of Finance in the Government led by Maia Sandu. At the beginning of 2021, she was twice appointed by President Maia Sandu for the position of Prime Minister, but she was not voted by the MPs.<\/p>\n
