The Constitutional Court (CC) published Decision no. 30 of December 10, 2020<\/strong>, on the confirmation of the presidential election results and the mandate validation of the newly elected President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.<\/p>\n

“The Court noted that no violations of the Electoral Code were found in the presidential election process and in the counting of votes cast, proven in the manner established by law, likely to influence the election results and the assignment of the presidential mandate,”<\/em> claimed President of the Constitutional Court, Domnica Manole<\/strong>, at a press conference<\/a> where the CC decision was presented.<\/p>\n

The court judgement is final and is no longer subject to appeal, entering into force on December 10, 2020.<\/p>\n

On December 9, Maia Sandu announced that she had resigned as President of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), according to the legislation in force. The CC noted that Maia Sandu presented confirmation that she was not a member of any political party and that she did not hold any other public or private office.<\/p>\n

After the result of the election is validated by the Constitutional Court, the newly elected president takes the oath no later than 45 days after the election<\/span>, the Moldovan legislation says.<\/p>\n

President-elect Maia Sandu announced that the ceremony of President’s inauguration will take place at the Palace of the Republic on December 24.<\/p>\n

Incumbent President Igor Dodon congratulated<\/a> Maia Sandu on the validation of the presidential mandate by the Constitutional Court of Moldova.<\/p>\n

Maia Sandu won the the second round of the presidential elections, held on November 15, outscoring her counter candidate by 15.44%<\/strong> of votes.<\/p>\n
