An informal meeting between the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Olga Cebotari<\/strong> and the leader from Tiraspol, Vadim Krasnoselski, was held on November 12, just 4 days after the appointment of Cebotari and 3 days before the second round of presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova. It was the first time when a representative of the Republic of Moldova met with the Transnistrian leader in such a format.<\/p>\n

“The meeting was informal, where the current situation in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement, current issues on the agenda, recent dynamics, difficulties encountered and prospects for boosting the process to identify viable solutions were discussed,”<\/em> is mentioned in a press release<\/a> of the Bureau for Reintegration Policies of Moldova.\u00a0<\/strong>The Moldovan representative expressed her “full openness and willingness to advance the dialogue on all existing negotiation platforms, focusing on solving the most pressing problems faced by the residents of both sides of the Dniester.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Initially, the meeting of Cebotari and Krasnoselski was announced only on the official website of the Transnistrian leader. Later on, the information was posted on the website of the Moldovan Government as well.<\/p>\n

Olga Cebotari, who also holds the citizenship of the Russian Federation, has been appointed on November 9. She took over from Cristina Lesnic<\/strong> who was dismissed along with other democratic ministers.<\/span> The ministers, who were previously delegated by the Democratic Party of Moldova (DPM) in the Chicu Government, were dismissed after Pavel Filip had announced that the democrats will retire from the government after the presidential elections.<\/p>\n

Former Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration criticised<\/a> the circumstances of the meeting between Cebotari and Krasnoselski, emphasizing that such meetings could take place on neutral platforms only, usually at the headquarters of the OSCE Mission in Chisinau or Tiraspol, not at an institution of the so-called authorities of Transnistria.<\/p>\n

At the same time, official discussions on recent events in the Security Zone, especially topics related to the illegal border checkpoints and abuses of Transnistrian armed forces were blocked by the Transnistrian side. Therefore, the meeting of the Joint Control Commission<\/strong>\u00a0(scheduled for November 12) was cancelled repeatedly, as per the Moldovan authorities announcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n
