From September 30 to October 13, there was an increase in cases of administrative resources misuse (18), violation of public health rules (6), hate speech and incitement to discrimination (62), cases when the images of foreign officials and state institutions\/symbols were used (7), as well as at least two cases where religious figures were involved in the election campaign of the candidate Igor Dodon, <\/em>as the Promo-LEX Observation Mission<\/strong>\u00a0(OM) reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One of the cases when important religious figures were involved in campaigning for Igor Dodon occurred on October 14, when Chisinau City Day was celebrated. The most iconic image of the event, which was held on the steps of the metropolitan cathedral, was that of the president, the mayor of Chisinau and the bishop of the Moldovan Orthodox Church standing all the time in front of people<\/span>, as if to remind whom they owe this celebration to.<\/p>\n

As it seems, the mayor of Chisinau, the socialist Ion Ceban<\/strong>, doesn’t miss any opportunity to campaign for his former political party colleague Igor Dodon.<\/p>\n

On October 16, a public ceremony was organised in the city centre of Chisinau where 5 multifunctional trucks for road snow removal, donated by the Moscow administration, arrived. Even though in this particular case Ceban didn’t explicitly mention his support for Igor Dodon, his geopolitical preferences have come to light. 5 months ago, when Ion Ceban was also the mayor of Chisinau, a humanitarian aid from Romania was ‘honoured’ under a bridge<\/a>. That time, the mayor declared that it was not the competence of the City Hall to decide where the event would take place.<\/p>\n

According to the Promo-LEX report, expenses of at least 809 477 lei were not reported by current election candidates<\/span>: Igor Dodon \u2013 474 856 lei; Andrei Nastase \u2013 111 531 lei; Violeta Ivanov \u2013 105 236 lei; Maia Sandu \u2013 67 812 lei; Renato Usatii \u2013 29 598 lei; Tudor Deliu \u2013 20 444 lei.<\/p>\n

The Promo-LEX Association also expressed its concern regarding the fact that members and supporters of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova<\/strong> are taking part in the election campaign by supporting the so-called independent candidate Igor Dodon.<\/p>\n

As this candidate is also still holding office of President of Republic of Moldova, Promo-LEX OM emphasized that “the current mechanism for suspending from office the President of the Republic of Moldova in relation to their participation in elections is not regulated sufficiently.” <\/em><\/span>That creates unequal opportunities for election candidates, as it is mentioned in the Report no. 4<\/a> “Observation Mission for the Presidential Election in the Republic of Moldova of November 1, 2020”<\/em><\/p>\n

In the meantime, old or new election tricks were reported by several media outlets, whereas the champion in this regard still remained the current president of the country.<\/p>\n

Dodon claimed previously that he will not participate in any public electoral debate. Instead, tens of local visits are paid all over the country every day for months. He presents himself as the president of the country rather than a candidate in the new presidential elections. The unregulated mechanism for suspending from office the President of the Republic of Moldova in relation to their participation in elections allows him to do that.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the representatives of the electoral staff of Igor Dodon use to call voters and ask them the following manipulative and deceiving question: “Did you know that Igor Dodon is running for president as an independent candidate because he is supported by the majority of Moldovan citizens?”<\/em> <\/strong><\/span>as being reported<\/a> by ZdG in an experiment.<\/p>\n

This morning, the employees of the city market in H\u00e2nce\u0219ti were wearing red vests and caps with the inscription \u201cResponsible President\u201d<\/em>, which is the slogan of the candidate Igor Dodon. Former Minister of Justice, Olesea Stamate<\/strong>, claimed<\/a> that these workers were pressured by the representatives of the National Agency for Food Safety (a state institution!) to wear them.<\/span><\/p>\n

These and other activities are organised by the electoral staff of Igor Dodon, a team that, as it seems, was joined by political science specialists who arrived in secret from Moscow this week. According to a note published by the Party of Action and Solidarity<\/strong> – a political party that supports Maia Sandu in presidential elections – “these people were invited to provide support to the candidate Igor Dodon. However, the costs of hiring these consultants are not declared to the Central Electoral Commission,”<\/em> as it is mentioned in the note<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There are 2 more weeks of the election campaign, and that could mean even more dirty tricks in the next 2 weeks.<\/p>\n
