After the Romanian Government announced that Moldova would be provided with a support package in order to fight the COVID-19 pandemic – the declaration being made in the context of the 10 years anniversary since the Strategic Partnership for\u00a0Moldova\u2019s European Integration was signed – a team of 42 medical specialists arrived in Chisinau today. They will be working together with doctors from the Republic of Moldova to manage the epidemiological crisis for 15 days.<\/p>\n

The medical team from Romania specialised in anaesthesia, intensive care, pulmonary function, emergency and internal medicine will provide medical care to patients diagnosed with COVID-19, as well as train medical staff in medical institutions from Balti, Chisinau and Cahul, as the Romanian Ministry of National Defence informed in an official notice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Romanian authorities\u00a0donated<\/a> medical equipment. According to the Romanian Embassy to the Republic of Moldova, 3000 protective suits, 6000 FFP2 protective masks, 6000 surgical masks, 11,500 pairs of gloves, 100 antiviral protective screens and 10 personnel evacuation systems of Romanian concept for patients contaminated with biological agents (isolette) were brought to Chisinau.<\/p>\n

“The Ministry of National Defence offered 10 systems of isolation and transport of the patients contaminated with biological agents, equipment that would be donated, at the end of the mission, to the Republic of Moldova. The isolettes of Romanian concept and production, developed by military researchers together with military doctors, meet the safety standards for prevention of contamination risks in the isolation area and on the transport route of an infected person,”<\/em><\/span> is mentioned in the press release of the Romanian institution.<\/p>\n

Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu<\/strong>, paid a visit to Chisinau as well and met with Prime Minister Ion Chicu<\/span><\/strong><\/span>. In his speech, the Foreign Minister announced that the Romanian Government is about to discuss the granting of support to the Republic of Moldova in the context of the pandemic crisis, amounting to about 3,5 million euros<\/strong>, from which\u00a0 protective equipment for the medical institutions from Moldova will be purchased.<\/p>\n

In a press press conference<\/a> held by the Romanian official together with Prime Minister Ion Chicu, Bogdan Aurescu mentioned that his visit to Chisinau is a message for all Moldovan citizens: “Romania shows its full solidarity with all citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We are with you not only mentally, but also physically,”<\/em> the official mentioned.<\/p>\n
