More and more statements about the issues of the Moldovan healthcare system appear on social media and on news portals.<\/p>\n<p>A medical worker from Chisinau posted a video as a response to the declarations of Minister of Health who stated that medical employees are provided with appropriate equipment. According to Viorica Dumbraveanu, the number of infection cases among medical workers is increasing because doctors do not know how to use the protective equipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eugeniu Cebotari\u00a0<\/strong>decided to show what is the protective equipment the emergency medical assistance team used while being on calls: masks made of permeable cotton, which exposes them to the risk of infection, gloves made out of a thin layer of plastic and protective glasses that are disinfected and used for several times.\u00a0<em>&#8220;Before you say that we are responsible for getting infected, make sure the medical staff have decent equipment to fight this virus,&#8221;<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/stiri\/stiri-sociale\/videoul-medicului-ce-i-raspunde-ministrei-despre-echipamentul-medical-a-fost-sters-am-fost-rugat-foarte-insistent\/\">said<\/a> the medical worker while addressing to the minister.<\/p>\n<p>A few hours after it was published, the video has been deleted.\u00a0The medical worker declared for Ziarul de Garda that <em>&#8220;he was insistently asked to delete the video&#8221;. <\/em>Moreover, the medical assistant claimed that\u00a0<em>&#8220;decent quality&#8221;<\/em> masks were brought the same day.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"740\" height=\"555\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iEgysZCZOi0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Still, the National Center for Emergency Medical Assistance denied all accusations: <em>&#8220;We emphasise that all emergency medical assistance teams who intervene in suspected coronavirus cases are provided with special protective equipment according to WHO recommendations. According to her, it is impossible to explain to patients why they should be isolated and how to respect the hygiene rules. <em>&#8220;He has his needs to smoke a cigarette, to drink from a bottle of water with another patient, in 90-bed section.&#8221;<\/em> The situation is also special because these patients can&#8217;t be hospitalised in another medical institution in case of infection and the doctors can&#8217;t be quarantined at home because such patients need permanent medical care, as the doctor explained.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300\"><em>&#8220;While fighting the virus, the doctors also have to fight the ministry, which should protect them, not psychologically destroy them. The doctor infected a patient &#8211; he is a monster, the doctor got infected &#8211; irresponsible and fool. The doctor did not go to work &#8211; a deserter, he complained about the lack of protective materials &#8211; a traitor&#8230;&#8221;<\/em> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/renata.iascenco\">wrote<\/a> the doctor on social media.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ciprian Gherasim<\/strong>, a doctor who previously worked at the Institute of Urgent Medicine declared that the single use tubes for patient intubation would be disinfected and reused for 2-3 patients. <em>&#8220;Few people know that the Republic of Moldova is the only country in the world where disposable tubes are not disposable. The patient died, the tube got sterilised in hydrogen peroxide and the next one is intubated,&#8221;<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ciprian.gherasim.100\">stated<\/a> the former medical worker.<\/p>\n<p>Official data show that 415 medical workers were infected with COVID-19 by April 11, out of which 3 died.
